About the role
Milton Keynes; not only the spiritual home of post-war New Town planning but today has growth ambitions to 2050 and beyond.
We are currently delivering the second wave of major city expansion, building new communities that mirror the best of the original masterplan designs.
Under our current plans, several important and exciting projects are now starting to come forward within the city centre and at our large-scale urban extension sites. This includes 1,500 houses overlooking the iconic green spaces in Campbell Park within the city centre, a 5,000 home, Government funding backed extension to the east of the city, and a further 3,500 home extension to the south.
The Planning team are now looking for experienced professionals to join our team and help support these important pieces of work. In return, we will support you in your continuing professional development and offer flexible working arrangements through our new Smarter Working policies.

To 2050 and Beyond
Last year we adopted our 2050 Strategy this sets out our ambition for low-carbon growth and an excellent quality of life for everyone in Milton Keynes, especially the children and young people who will be our future citizens, and those who choose to move here and join us in the ongoing story of our great city.
Our City Centre
The 2050 Strategy includes our Renaissance:CMK (Central Milton Keynes) project to create a new framework for growth and investment in our city centre. Recent developments include the 14 storey Hotel La Tour, Santander’s new HQ building, and the redeveloped YMCA.
Infrastructure First
Over the coming year we aim to support the development of a Mass Rapid Transport system for the city, support the delivery of a fully electrified East-West Rail and continue to promote better connectivity and infrastructure across our wider sub-region.
Digitisation
As well as planning for the future of this great city we are planning to move our Service towards greater use of digital tools and platforms, transforming the way we undertake our work and deliver services to our customers.
